New Taylormade

Taylormade's BRNR Mini-Drivers have recently made it to the USGA Conforming List, and the first pictures of these clubs are now available. The Mini-Drivers will be available in two lofts for right-handed players, 11.5° and 13.5°, while lefties are hard done by again only getting the 11.5° option. These clubs will also come with CG adjustment system through front and rear weighting. The weights will be labeled "heavy," and the other will be labeled "light." Amazing creativity if I do say so myself. This innovation allows golfers to adjust the club's center of gravity, which can impact the club's performance. ❌Access denied❌

As always, there is some LIV-PGA tension surrounding this week's tournament - the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play Championship held at the Austin Country Club. While we should be celebrating the history of the tournament and giving it the fair well treatment it deserves, there's a question on everyone's mind: why are the LIV Golf players not eligible? This is a co-sanctioned event under the purview of the International Federation of PGA Tours, not just a PGA Tour event. There is a total of 9 players that rank inside the top 66 and under the current OWGR rankings would qualify. Despite several LIV players asking to enter, they were unfortunately denied because the tournament application for entry states that it is “subject to acceptance by the Host Tour and the International Federation of PGA Tours and may be rejected or revoked by either without liability at any time before or after commencement of Tournament play if a player fails to meet the eligibility requirements ... (or) violates any of the Tournament Regulations of the Host Tour."

Wednesday Rumours

Everyone loves a good rumour so we found one for you this morning - As reported by @thecountryclubcollection Rory McIlroy might make a big change to his golf equipment before The Masters next month. He hasn't been shy about expressing his frustration with the new TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus driver in recent weeks, saying, "I wish I could use my driver from last year." Rory has also been testing Titleist wedges, and you know the team at Titleist wouldn't be sitting on their hands when presented an opportunity like that. With the Masters coming up and his shot at the career Grand Slam, only time will tell if a change in equipment will be right decision for Rory.
