PGA Erases history

During the televised coverage of the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, an interesting incident occurred. Viewers on Twitter were quick to notice that the names of a select group of "Past Champions" were left off the displayed graphic, which was rather surprising.

Both Bubba Watson, the 2018 Champion, and Dustin Johnson, the 2017 Champion, were deserving winners of the WGC Match Play, yet they were left off the graphic. To me, this seems like a rather petty move by the PGA, considering that both players are now affiliated with another league. It looks like a play designed to hurt the image of current LIV Golf players and deter further individuals from leaving.

If you're thinking that it was just a technical error or a loss of concentration, then why is the list only nine players long? The reason is that a list that included a 10th player would introduce Ian Poulter, the 2010 Champion, who is also contracted to the rouge golf league.

The same PGA that is all about playing for history and creating a lasting legacy is the same tour erasing deserving Champions from their history books. Was it just a bad error of judgement or will they continue this trend moving forward? We will find out soon enough with a large showing a LIV players attending The Masters in a few weeks time.

Todays final pairings are shaping up to be a fantastic end to a great tournament and I am looking forward to watching it all play out.

Spotlight - DEVEREUX Golf

We are golf, Goods made by the golfer for the golfers

About: The Brunner Brothers started Devereux with the goal of creating a brand that would bring a fresh perspective to the golf industry. They noticed that the industry was becoming stagnant, and they wanted to create something that was more inclusive, inviting, and less boring. As golf enthusiasts themselves, they knew that the game had a lot to offer, but they wanted to make it more accessible to everyone.

To achieve this goal, they made some changes to their business. They moved from a wholesale model to a direct-to-consumer model, which allowed them to have more freedom in how they designed and priced their apparel. They also focused on their community, reimagining the role they could play in growing the game.

One of the things that sets Devereux apart from other golf brands is their commitment to family and fashion. Growing up in a small Texas town, fashion was hard to come by, but their family always made dressing well a priority. They named their brand after their grandmother, Devereux Brunner, who was passionate about supporting her community and playing golf. The Brunner Brothers strive to honor her legacy by cultivating a community through their business.

The motto of Devereux is "Play More, Complain Less," which encapsulates their philosophy on life and golf. They believe that it's easy to complain, but they try to focus on the positive and be grateful for the good parts of life. This motto is also relevant to golf, where frustration and disappointment can often dominate. They aim to promote a more relaxed and fun experience on the course, welcoming everyone to the game, no matter their skill level.

Finally, the concept of "G*LF" is a cultural movement that the Brunner Brothers are trying to promote through their brand. It's about enjoying the game, bending the rules, and having a damn good time on the course with your friends. They want to make golf more accessible and fun for everyone, regardless of how well they play. Through their brand, they aim to progress the game and make it more inclusive and enjoyable for all.
