Six year drought
Lachlan Barker won the 2023 PNG Open championship, his first win as a professional golfer in six years, and his first PGA Tour of Australasia victory. Barker surged ahead of the competition on the front nine of the final day, with five birdies and one eagle, and finished with a score of 14-under-par.
Barker's lead grew to six shots with nine holes to play and he maintained his composure to secure the win. Jack Murdoch finished four shots back in second place, while Chris Wood, Michael Wright, and Blake Proverbs shared third place. Barker earned $32,400 for his victory and plans to travel to Thailand for two mixed events.
